A former fifth-grade math teacher at Smyrna Elementary School, Kentucky, has been indicted on serious charges, including first-degree rape and sodomy of a child under 12, following allegations of sending explicit sexual messages to a young student.
Sydnee Graf, 36, was indicted this week on charges of first-degree rape of a child under 12, first-degree sodomy of a child under 12, unlawful transaction with a minor, and possession of a controlled substance, according to court records and reports from WLKY and People magazine.
Graf was initially arrested on December 15, 2025, after police alleged she engaged in sexually explicit conversations with a boy under 12 during a remote learning day and was apprehended while driving to pick him up from his home.
Authorities say the messages included graphic discussions of sexual acts, with one alleged text from Graf stating she “really needs to taste that d–k.” Screenshots reportedly showed her face and name on the screen.
The school district alerted police after learning of the exploitation during virtual instruction. Upon arrest, officers allegedly found hydrocodone and Adderall in her vehicle.
Graf reportedly admitted to sending the messages and was reassigned to a non-student-facing role pending investigation. She pleaded not guilty in court this week and was ordered to have no unsupervised contact with minors or internet access.
Her next court appearance is scheduled for Monday. The upgraded charges provide no further public details on the alleged physical incidents. The case has drawn widespread attention for highlighting risks during remote education.
