ATLANTA -The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has canceled a scheduled meeting of its vaccine advisory committee that was set to take place next week, according to agency officials.
The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), which provides guidance on vaccine use in the United States, was expected to review data and discuss immunization recommendations for several routine and seasonal vaccines. The CDC did not immediately provide detailed reasons for the cancellation but indicated that updates regarding rescheduling would be shared in due course.
The committee plays a critical role in shaping national vaccine policy. Its recommendations are closely followed by healthcare providers, insurers and public health departments across the country. ACIP meetings typically include public sessions where experts present safety data, effectiveness studies and updated research before voting on guidance.
Public health experts noted that while cancellations are uncommon, they do occur due to logistical issues, administrative adjustments or evolving review timelines. The postponement does not necessarily indicate changes to existing vaccine recommendations.
Healthcare providers are advised to continue following current CDC immunization schedules until further notice. Officials emphasized that any updates to vaccine guidance would be communicated through official agency channels.
The CDC remains responsible for monitoring vaccine safety and coordinating responses to infectious disease threats nationwide. The agency said additional information about future ACIP meetings will be posted on its website once confirmed.
