Three French tourists have lost their lives after a boat carrying 27 passengers capsized off the coast of Oman, prompting an emergency response from local authorities. The tragic incident has once again raised concerns over maritime safety in the region, particularly for tourist vessels operating along popular coastal routes.

According to official sources, the boat was carrying a mix of foreign tourists and crew members when it overturned in Omani waters. Rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene, managing to save the remaining passengers. Those rescued were provided medical assistance, while the injured were transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

Authorities confirmed that the victims were French nationals, though their identities have not been released pending notification of their families. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation, with officials examining factors such as weather conditions, vessel stability, and compliance with safety regulations.

Oman’s Royal Police and maritime rescue services are working closely to determine whether mechanical failure or human error played a role in the capsizing. Officials have also launched a review of safety protocols for tourist boats to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The French embassy has been informed of the deaths and is coordinating with Omani authorities to assist the victims’ families and survivors. Diplomatic representatives are also monitoring the investigation closely.

Tourism officials have urged travelers to follow safety guidelines and ensure that vessels are operated by licensed providers who adhere to maritime safety standards. While Oman is widely regarded as a safe destination, incidents such as this highlight the importance of strict enforcement of safety measures.

As investigations continue, authorities have extended condolences to the families of the victims, describing the incident as a tragic accident that has deeply saddened both nations.
