Mia Goth reportedly wants her ex-husband, Shia LaBeouf, to enter rehab following his arrest earlier this week after a bar altercation during Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans.
According to TMZ, sources close to the actress said Goth, 32, believes LaBeouf’s alleged drinking issues have been ongoing “for years” behind closed doors and that she wants him to seek professional help. Despite their split nearly a year ago, insiders claim Goth still cares deeply for the 39-year-old actor and hopes he can remain a stable presence in the life of their 3-year-old daughter, Isabel.
The former couple, who married in 2016 after meeting on the set of Nymphomaniac: Vol. II in 2012, had an on-again, off-again relationship before quietly separating. Reports suggest police were called to their Los Angeles home multiple times before their breakup. Representatives for both actors have not publicly commented.
LaBeouf, known for his early role in Even Stevens, was arrested Tuesday in New Orleans after allegedly getting into a heated fight at a bar during Mardi Gras festivities. Authorities charged him with two counts of simple battery, and he was taken to Orleans Parish Prison before being released.
Following his release, the actor was photographed jogging and later attempting to attend church on Ash Wednesday. However, a police report published by TMZ alleges LaBeouf used homophobic slurs during the altercation and head-butted one of the men involved, possibly dislocating the individual’s nose.
After the incident, LaBeouf posted a brief message on social media reading, “Free me.”
The latest arrest adds to a string of past controversies for the actor, as questions swirl about whether he will seek treatment amid renewed public scrutiny.
