Maddox, the eldest son of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has dropped “Pitt” from his surname in professional credits, marking another public sign of the family’s ongoing estrangement.
The 24-year-old, born Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt, is credited simply as “Maddox Jolie” in the end titles of Couture, a drama directed by Alice Winocour and starring Angelina Jolie. The film premiered in French theaters on February 18, 2026. Maddox served as an assistant director on the project.
The change was also reflected during the film’s earlier screening at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025, where he was listed without “Pitt” in production notes.
In contrast, Maddox previously appeared as “Maddox Jolie-Pitt” in the credits of Jolie’s 2024 Netflix film Maria, where he also worked in production.
He is now the third of the former couple’s six children to publicly distance themselves from the Pitt surname. In 2023, Zahara introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie during a sorority induction ceremony at Spelman College. Shiloh, 19, was credited as Shiloh Jolie in materials related to the Broadway production The Outsiders, which she helped produce with her mother in 2024.
Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016 following an alleged incident on a private plane. The FBI investigated the matter and declined to file charges in 2022. The pair were declared legally single in 2019 and finalized their divorce settlement in December 2024.
While sources have previously said Pitt is aware of and upset by the name changes, Maddox’s latest credit suggests he is carving out his own professional identity as he builds a career behind the camera.
