Tensions flared again today between protesters and law enforcement during anti-ICE demonstrations outside the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building in the Minneapolis area.
The situation intensified after a demonstrator moved into the street near the facility, prompting federal officers in tactical gear to push the crowd back onto the sidewalk. Multiple agents restrained the individual at the center of the incident, who was later taken into custody.
The Whipple Federal Building, located near Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport, has been used as an operational base by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, along with the Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection.
Its role has made the site a regular gathering point for demonstrators angered by the conduct of federal agents in Minnesota, including encounters involving U.S. citizens.
The unrest reflects growing opposition in the region to President Donald Trump’s expansive immigration enforcement efforts, which have sparked protests nationwide.
